6 HVAC devices that can turn your indoor quality around

We spent hours of our time ensuring that every corner of our house is clean. But indoor air quality is something we seem to miss. Regardless of how good your cleaning techniques are, they will not be sufficient to reduce indoor air pollution.

Indoor pollution requires a special indoor air purifier. A wide variety of air quality monitoring and control devices are available in the market. Such devices are used along with the HVAC systems to provide healthy and clean indoor air. This enables us to monitor the quality of the air at all times and also restore the optimum air quality whenever required.

Everyone understands that the air around us has a direct impact on our health. Hence, these devices are something everyone should have. That is why today we are discussing six HVAC devices that can tremendously improve the quality of air indoors.

Dehumidifiers

High humidity in some areas is not uncommon. Particularly, in the months of summer, humidity levels can be extremely high. Moisture promotes the growth of hundreds of bacteria and germs. Hence, as the humidity rises, there is also an increase in the number of pathogens, molds, and dust mites in the air.

The performance of some appliances is also compromised due to humidity. Additionally, several products are recommended not to come in contact with moisture. Due to high moisture, they can be spoiled. Consequently, using a dehumidifier can be highly beneficial.

A dehumidifier is integrated into the HVAC system, and as each cycle processes, the moisture is extracted from the air. A whole-home dehumidifier is great if you want it to cover the entire house. On the other hand, if the humidity is confined to spaces that are more susceptible to dampness, such as basements, you can purchase portable dehumidifiers that are best for limited spaces. Either way, these devices do a great job of restoring the normal humidity of indoor air.

Air cleaners

Air cleaners are the most straightforward way to have clean indoor air. These devices, as their name suggests, are designed with the objective of removing impurities from the air. Traditional cleaning methods are not efficient enough to clean the indoor air. Conversely, air cleaners, when operated together with HVAC devices, collect all kinds of dust in the air.

But that is not all. An air cleaner is more than just a dust removal device. These are designed to capture pollen, smoke, bacteria, and dander, making the air not only clean but also safer. The majority of air cleaners can trap bacteria as small as one-third of a micron. This would imply they can even eliminate viruses such as the common cold viruses and other pathogens from the air. Hence, reducing the risk of many diseases. Some specially designed cleaners not only trap but also kill any bacteria and virus that comes in contact. Thus, becoming the first choice of many.

Carbon Monoxide Alarms

Excessive amounts of carbon monoxide are fatal. It can cause carbon monoxide poisoning, which can lead to death. Many appliances used in the house release carbon monoxide in small quantities. But with time, there will be a carbon monoxide build-up in the air that can have harmful effects on people. As this gas does not have any odor, we cannot determine its quantity in the air in the surroundings on our own.

Carbon monoxide alarms are a practical solution to this problem. These are specially designed devices that detect the presence of carbon monoxide. Installing carbon monoxide alarms in your house will enable you to know when the carbon monoxide quantity exceeds a safe level. This is regarded as the best indoor air quality monitor. We would recommend installing this air quality meter near your bedrooms. These devices are a great example of indoor air quality monitor devices.

Humidifiers

Just as having too much humidity is not ideal, having too little is too. Some areas have a relatively dry atmosphere, especially in winters. Dry air can result in respiratory-related problems and damage the wooden furniture. In such a case, using a humidifier is the most effective solution.

And just as we have dehumidifiers to reduce moisture content in the air, there are also humidifiers to restore the standard humidity level in the air when it is too dry. A whole-home humidifier is used along with the HVAC to provide moisture through steam or water vapor to replenish the moisture in the air to a healthy and comfortable level throughout the house.

UV lamps

Sometimes, HVAC systems alone cannot provide the healthy and clean air that is important. On the contrary, the heating and cooling coil in the system might even act as a breeding ground for pathogens and bacteria. While regular maintenance can solve the problem temporarily, it is wiser to resolve the problem from the very core. This can be done by using UV lamps.

Ultraviolet radiations are known for their germ-killing property. A UV lamp uses the same property. It is fixed near the coil and the HVAC duct of the HVAC system so that the air can be free from any harmful bacteria before it can reach the air supply. This not only reduces the number of bacteria but also reduces other major problems such as mold growth.

Ventilators

While having a properly enclosed house is important so that the polluted air from the outside does not enter our indoor supply, sometimes a lack of ventilation can significantly reduce the airflow inside the house. One might feel suffocated or trapped in such conditions. If you feel that your room always lacks fresh air, it might need proper ventilation.

You cannot go wrong with a ventilator. An adequate ventilation system pulls in the fresh air and removes the stagnant air from the room, creating a constant airflow. Also, ventilators can be used along with HVAC systems. This reduces energy consumptions of the system as the energy generated by the outdoor air is used to treat the indoor air.

Conclusion

Indoor air quality testing has become quite relevant in present times when the outside pollution has reached such an extent that it has begun infiltrating the air supply inside our homes. These simple devices can make a huge difference when it comes to indoor air quality. As said before, an indoor air quality monitoring system and controlling system is very crucial. If used along with the HVAC system, these devices increase the efficiency of the entire system. Additionally, some of these devices can minimize energy consumption.
